Carob is the powder from the dried fruits of the carob tree. It has a fruity-sweet caramel flavor and is therefore often used as an alternative to cocoa.
Overall, carob tastes sweeter and less bitter than cocoa.

Is carob a better alternative to cocoa?

First of all, it must be said that carob does not contain caffeine compared to cocoa. This is a huge advantage because caffeine and its stimulant effects have lasting negative consequences for our nervous system and our entire body.

You can find more information about the harmfulness of caffeine in the Coffee Podcast.
Carob also contains hardly any fat, which is another advantage compared to cocoa.

Use of carob

In principle, carob can be used in the same way as cocoa. No matter whether in “chocolate cake”, ice cream, dessert or cookie, the possible uses are endless.

Conclusion

Carob is clearly the better alternative to cocoa and can be used without a guilty conscience. However, you should be aware that carob is a legume and does not have the healing properties of fruits, vegetables, wild foods and herbs. So if you have decided on your healing journey to reach your goal as quickly as possible and, if possible, to avoid legumes in your protocol, then you should also keep an eye on the amount of carob you consume.
